IT was the birth of his daughter that encouraged a Townsville artist to quit his job and concentrate on adding a splash of colour to vacant concrete.
Modern and traditional artist Nicky Bidju Pryor has been a full-time mural painter for six years after becoming a father to Gracey.
Mr Pryor has painted countless murals around North Queensland including Townsville, Ayr, Home Hill and the Whitsundays.
He said it was the best decision to quit his job in 2014.
“I used to work full-time and then (Gracey) came along and I wanted to spend time with her and look after her and I had wanted to get back into art for a long time,” he said. “So I started painting again and then I got my first mural job at the PCYC in Aitkenvale.”
Mr Pryor recently finished a mural at Riverway Skate Park and is currently planning a design to start work at the Australian Red Cross Townsville.
