P!nk made history in Townsville as she wrapped up her record-breaking Australian tour, smashing stadium attendance records and boosting the local economy by $50M.

Fireworks lit up the sky above the Queensland Country Bank Stadium as P!nk took her final bow and bid farewell to tens of thousands of fans in Townsville as she wrapped up the last Aussie show of her Summer Carnival tour on Saturday night.

During the tour, almost a million people watched as she played 20 stadium shows — the most ever performed by any artist in Australia and New Zealand on a single tour.

She only continued to break records in Townsville, with the Summer Carnival tour smashing the crowd attendance record at Queensland Country Bank Stadium, with around 65,000 fans attending over two big nights.

Stadium manager Tom Kimball said this surpassed the previous record-holding event, the 2021 State of Origin game, which drew a crowd of around 27,000.

Townsville Enterprise chief executive Claudia Brumme-Smith said that 20,000 visitors from outside of Townsville came to town for the concerts.

“Major events are the cornerstone to our region’s visitor experience, and as the region continues to grow, this is becoming a point of distinction for our destination,” she said.

“The enormous economic value can be hard to fathom, but to the local business manager, retail operator, barista, tradesperson, truck driver or cleaner – it means jobs, and it means business.”

Not only were local records broken, but Australian records were, too, with the Summer Carnival Tour selling the most tickets for any tour by a female artist in Australia.

Pink recently shared a post on her Instagram showing her gratitude for this milestone.

“We’ve sold over 3.1 million tickets during six tours here; that’s the most career ticket sales ever achieved by an international performer in Australia and New Zealand,” she wrote.

“I’m not often lost for words, but you really did it to me this week. Your support is never lost on me and it’s a privilege to do this with you every day.

“From the bottom of my heart, thank you. Here’s to another 20 years together.”

Days before the Townsville show, Pink attended an intimate event put on by Sony Music Australia and Live Nation in Sydney where she was presented with a plaque in honour those record-breaking achievements.

She was also gifted a custom art piece from Holly Sanders, inspired by her connection with the country but also her life asa mum and artist.

Opening act and Australian musician, Tones and I, also took to social media to thank the audience and tease her return.

“Townsville you are so Loud! You shine so bright on your own,” she wrote.

“Last night you brought the energy of 10 stadiums! The locals are so kind and generous.

“Thankyou for making me feel the way you did last night. I’ll be back … sooner than you think.”
