The Victorian Summer Baseball Competition organisers must have gone looking through the history books after a Geelong Baycats mauling of two first grade teams.

The Baycats have started 2025 in superb form, smashing 49 runs to no score in just two games in less than a fortnight.

The Baycats returned to Geelong Baseball Centre on January 11 after the festive season, crushing Werribee 29-0.

Then, following a four-all draw with Williamstown and a one-run loss to Waverley, the Baycats were back to their destructive form once more, smashing Fitzroy 20-0 on Tuesday night.

Bradyn Baker and Brock wells both collected three hits each as the Baycats brought in nine runners in the third innings alone, and had 20 runs on the board after six innings.

It was similar to the 29-run win over Werribee, where 22 were hit after the sixth dig, as Wells, Kelii Mathew Zablan and Sam Gibbons enjoyed three hits each.

Young Geelong star Hayden Peoples, who was called up the Melbourne Aces earlier this month, said Werribee’s side was similar to its outfit which contests the Geelong Baseball Association top grade.

“We were talking about that (result) to a few of the boys from other clubs and nobody can recall a game where someone has won 29-0,” Peoples said.

“That should not happen. That scoreline should not be a thing.

“But on the flipside it’s showing we’re doing everything right.”
