The best fashion moments on the 2012 Brownlow Medal red carpet
UPDATE: MORE fashion hits than misses on this year's Brownlow Medal red carpet.
THE Brownlow Medal red carpet has finished, with the footballers and their partners all seated in the Palladium Room at Crown having dinner before the count starts.
There were more fashion hits than misses on the red carpet.
Brynne Edelsten once again turned heads with her dressed designed by good friend Xen.
The dressed was modelled on a mirror ball crossed with Barbie and Black Swan.
"I love what I wear and I love going all out, I thought, why not?'' she said.
As for the WAGS, Western Bulldogs player Ryan Griffen's partner Jasmine Putra was a stand out in a tangerine full-length gown that fashion experts are already tipping as a stand out.
Red was a popular colour, with Adelaide's Rory Sloane's partner Belinda Riverso going with the Jessica Rabbit inspired outfit.
There were also plenty of baby bumps on the red carpet, including Eddie Betts' partner Annie Scullie and Cory Enright's partner Renee looking stunning as they walked into the function.
Everyone was watching just who Gary Ablett Jr would take on the night after his split with long-term girlfriend Lauren Phillips.
In the end he went with his mate Jason Davenport, a former footballer for Geelong and Port Adelaide.
Ablett, who is wearing a suit from So Ho workshop, tweeted a picture of his date.
Earlier, Melbourne's Jack Trengrove arrived with his mum, fulfilling a promise that he made as a child.
Meanwhile, the Brownlow red carpet coverage on Foxtel and Channel 7 has screened to mixed reviews.
Some high profile footballers were scathing of Foxtel's red carpet coverage, which was led by Charlotte Dawson and Alex Perry.
Collingwood's Travis Cloke led the criticism.
"No females will ever want to go to the Brownlow after hearing what these blowers have to say about them,'' he said.
"Learn a few names too!''
Carlton's Brock McLean agreed: "The Brownlow coverage has become an absolute joke.''
For the first time Foxtel hosted a red carpet Fashion Police segment, filmed inside the Palladium Room.
Channel 7's red carpet coverage was more conservative, sticking to straight fashion and interviews.
There wasn't a repeat of last year when Seven was severely criticised for making the partners players rotating on a fashion version of a lazy susan.
