Territory students win 2025 Exit Art awards at MAGNT

Nine students have been awarded for their creativity and talent at the 2025 NT Exit Art awards. SEE THE LIST AND PHOTOS.

Nine senior Northern Territory students have been celebrated for their creativity and talent at the annual Exit Art awards.

The awards, which recognise the work of the Territory’s Year 12 art students, are presented by the the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory and were held on Friday evening.

The nine winners were selected from 45 finalist works chosen for the Exit Art student exhibition at MAGNT, with student artists representing schools in Darwin, Palmerston, Alice Springs, Katherine and Nhulunbuy.

In partnership with the Northern Territory Department of Education and Training, Exit Art is now open to the public until May 2025, with free entry for all.

The public also has the chance to vote in the People’s Choice Award, with the winner for the first time getting the chance to exhibit at Parap Fine Foods.

The winners were:

Exit Art Minister’s Choice Award - Leyla Altintas (Centralian Senior College, Mparntwe/Alice Springs) – Fever Pitch.

Darwin Street Art Festival Prize- Sophie Kerr (Palmerston College) – City 107.

Jacksons Drawing Supplies Award - Shannon Murphy (Centralian Senior College) – Midnight Neon.

Darwin Visual Arts Award - Ruby Joswig (Darwin High School) – Pawpaw, Blood Orange and Tea.

Honourable Mentions: Zydel Atanacio (Our Lady of the Sacred Heart College) – Fragmented Identity and Myah McSherry (Nhulunbuy High School) – CAT.

Tactile Arts Award - Luke Orr (Centralian Senior College) – Fabric Waves.

Honourable Mentions: Karilyn Mitchell (Taminmin College) – My Mind on My Body and Jarvis Musgrave (Darwin High School) – Visibility.

Art Educators of the NT Award - Eshani Senarath (Darwin High School) – Reflections and Zydel Atanacio (Our Lady of the Sacred Heart College) – My Room.

Art Teachers of Media NT Award, Maddie Ladd (Darwin High School) – A Reason for Existing.

MAGNT Foundation Award - Shannon Murphy (Centralian Senior College) – Consumed.
