A Launceston woman has discovered her thousand-dollar lottery win – two weeks after the ticket was drawn.

The north Tasmanian resident held the 1st Prize winning entry in Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot draw 11026, drawn Friday, July 11 2025, with a total prize of $100,000.

The winning woman confessed she’d been walking around completely oblivious to the fact she’d been holding a winning ticket from the Brisbane Street News and Lotto in her purse.

“Oh my god! Oh my god! You’re joking?!” she said to The Lott officials.

“Okay, okay, wow! Give me a moment to compose myself.

“This is just fabulous. What great news.

“I’ve been thinking for days that I needed to check this ticket and thank goodness I did!

“I heard there was a mystery winner in the area, but I never thought it would be me.

“I often share tickets with some of my friends, but this one I bought unregistered because it was just for me.

“I’m stunned that I’ve had $100,000 sitting in my purse this entire time.

“I can’t wait to tell my husband. I don’t think he’s going to believe me.

“I feel so grateful right now.”

The winning woman had one thing top of mind for her prize — buying a beautiful casserole dish she’d been eyeing off.

“You know what – I’m going to buy this beautiful casserole dish I’ve been eyeing off,” she said.

“I told myself it was too expensive but now I’m just going to walk in and buy it.

“I’ll be able to pay off our house too.

“I’ll also share some with my friend who’s been doing it tough – she won’t see it coming.”

Brisbane Street News & Lotto owner Garry Matthews said he was pleased to hear his outlet had graced a customer with a $100,000 windfall.

“It’s nice to get a little victory from time to time!” he said.

“I’m sure this will cure the winter blues, and is a great pick-me-up this season.

“We haven’t had a major lottery win like this for a couple of years; however we did have a division two winning entry in Set for Life a couple of months ago!”

In 2024, 147 Lucky Lotteries 1st Prize and Jackpot winning entries across Australia won more than $52.2 million.
