Tim Andrew Gunn has appeared via video-link in the Hobart Magistrates Court on a string of charges, including allegations he breached a family violence order by contacting a woman 247 times via mobile.
According to court documents, the 31-year-old man hailing from Albury NSW has been charged with six alleged breaches of a nationally recognised domestic violence order, one count of knowingly providing false or misleading information, and one count of failing to comply with a lawful requirement or direction of an emergency management worker.
The documents also allege Mr Gunn had been lawfully directed by a direction of the deputy state controller to quarantine at the TraveLodge Hotel Hobart for 14 days from his arrival in Tasmania.
Tasmania Police principal legal officer Mark Miller said Mr Gunn had been arrested on Tuesday on warrant.
“There are likely to be further charges in relation to further breaches of the New South Wales family violence order,” Mr Miller said.
“There may be charges under the Community Health Act.
“But I would expect they would be made at the next appearance.”
Legal Aid lawyer Monica Otlowski said there would not be an application for bail at this stage.
She asked for an adjournment without plea.
“Our office does intend on providing Mr Gunn with some assistance,” she said.
Ms Otlowski said a “large” volume of material would need to be analysed before the next court appearance.
She said Mr Gunn may still apply for bail at a later date.
Acting Magistrate Sam Mollard remanded Mr Gunn in custody to reappear in court on November 12.
He asked Mr Gunn to appear in person if possible.
Tim Gunn to face court over alleged breach, drug charges
Tim Gunn is set to appear in court in Hobart this afternoon for allegedly breaching a domestic violence order, lying about where he travelled before entering Tasmania, and leaving the TraveLodge Hotel without permission.
According to court documents, the 31-year-old man hailing from Albury NSW has been charged with six alleged breaches of a nationally recognised domestic violence order, one count of knowingly providing false or misleading information, and one count of failing to comply with a lawful requirement or direction of an emergency management worker.
Tasmania Police have also said in a statement he was charged under the Misuse of Drugs Act.
Tim Andrew Gunn allegedly breached the restraint order, which came into effect in April, by meeting the woman at a Woolworths in Bridgewater, and at a residence in Bridgewater and calling out to her at the Hobart International Airport in Cambridge.
He also allegedly contacted her via mobile 247 times.
The breaches allegedly occurred on October 11-14, and October 16-17 according to the court documents.
The charge of knowingly providing false or misleading information was alleged to have occurred on October 11 at Cambridge when he told an emergency manager worker he had only been in Queensland during the 14 days before his arrival in Hobart. The documents allege this assertion was not true.
The documents also allege Mr Gunn had been lawfully directed by a direction of the deputy state controller to quarantine at the TraveLodge Hotel Hobart for 14 days from his arrival in Tasmania.
The documents claim he contravened the direction by leaving the hotel on or around October 11 without permission.
Mr Gunn is expected to appear in the Hobart Magistrates Court this afternoon.
