Blundstone Arena’s AFL Grand Final Ladies Lunch is returning this September for its 15th year after a Covid-induced hiatus.
Based in the Ricky Ponting Room with fun, food and entertainment for all, event organiser Michele Percey said half of the tickets had already been sold.
“I think the popularity comes from ladies wanting to come together and catch up with their friends and get dressed up but also really loving the footy and wanting to celebrate that in a way different to attending the match,” she said.
“This year I’ve noticed that there seems to be a lot of people asking whether they’re partner can come or if the guys can go?
“It is a lot of women that love to go, but the guys are definitely welcome!”
Ms Percey promises an event decked out in the Grand Final teams’ colours as well as the chance to try a hand at AFL footy bowling or a handball competition.
Proceeds from ticket sales and a raffle run on the day will also go to local charity Speak Up Stay ChatTY, with charity founder Mitch McPherson MC’ing the event.
“We are hoping to make a really generous donation to them and help them to continue doing the amazing work they do in our community,” she said.
“Mitch is a great ambassador for the charity and above else he’s a good conversationalist, so I’m sure he’ll keep everyone entertained.”
The 2024 AFL Grand Final Ladies Lunch returns on Friday, September 27 at Blundstone Arena, with tickets available from www.trybooking.com/events/landing/1268012
