Driver in serious condition after Montrose crash
12.40am: A crash in Montrose that has seriously injured a driver appears to have involved multiple vehicles and a power line.
Officers say a driver of one of the vehicles is in a serious condition after the crash on Main Rd near Philip Ave, and was rushed to the Royal Hobart Hospital.
More than six hours after the incident, police and tow trucks were on the scene clearing up the damage in a complicated operation involving TasNetworks.
That included removing a smashed up blue sedan.
Nearby residents reported waking to a loud “bang” some time after 6.30am — with emergency services saying they responded to reports of the crash around 7am.
The crash has also left nearly 100 neighbouring homes without power since this morning.
Police are expected to provide an update this afternoon.
Road blocks remain in place between Lorraine Crescent and Montrose Rd in both directions.
10.40am: Emergency services remain at the scene hours after a reported traffic crash on Main Rd, Montrose.
Officers say a male driver of a vehicle involved has been taken to the Royal Hobart Hospital for treatment.
It’s believed his condition is serious.
Police and emergency services first responded to reports of the crash at around 7am.
The incident, near Philip Ave, has blocked traffic between Lorraine Crescent and Montrose Rd in both directions.
Further investigations will take place while the road remains closed, which will include specialist resources examining the scene.
It is not known at this stage if the crash involved more than one vehicle.
Two people in serious condition after campground crash
December 28, 8am: Two people have been flown to hospital in serious condition after a crash at a campground on Bruny Island.
Police said the Westpac Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to the area after reports of a serious single-vehicle crash at Jetty Beach Campground at South Bruny on Friday evening.
Police said the two injured people received medical treatment at the scene before being transported to the Royal Hobart Hospital.

Overnight, fire crews swarmed the Mt Field Visitor Centre after reports of a structure fire.
Fireys said a small blaze in the kitchen was quickly found upon arrival.
The fire was quickly extinguished. The TFS did not say the extent of the damage.
Also on Friday, police confirmed a deliberately lit fire which destroyed a car and damaged a house in Queenstown is being investigated.
Emergency services were called to a residence in Dilger Court about five o’clock on Friday morning.
Tasmania Fire Service crews put out the fire in a car which was in a carport attached to the house.
The TFS determined it had been deliberately lit.
The damage to the house is not known but it is believed the exterior of a bedroom was burned.

Driver receiving medical assistance after Perth crash
12.10am: A woman in her 30s has sadly died after her vehicle struck a pole and two parked cars at Perth, police confirmed.
The woman driving a silver Honda CRV reportedly crashed about 9.45am.
Emergency services responded to the situation promptly, but attempts to save her life were unsuccessful.
Police say they will be investigating the cause of the crash, and haven’t ruled out that it could’ve been caused by a medical-related emergency.
Motorists have been asked to continue to avoid the area until further notice.
Anyone who say the Honda around the time of the crash is asked to contact police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers Tasmania.
11.25am: Police and paramedics remain at the scene of a car crash more than an hour after first reported.
It’s believed the vehicle crashed into an unoccupied parked car on Main Rd, Perth, in the state’s north.
Paramedics rushed to the scene about 10.15am, alongside other emergency service personnel.
Officers said the driver of the vehicle was receiving medical attention at the scene.
Motorists have been asked to avoid the area, including Main Rd, Frederick St and Fairtlough St.

Motorcycle Motorcycle rider dead after Boxing Day crash
December 27, 8am: A 70-year-old motorcycle rider has tragically died in a Boxing Day crash at Longford.
Emergency services responded to the incident — that involved a white Toyota Hilux and a yellow Suzuki motorcycle — about 12.25pm on Thursday.
The crash occurred near the intersection of Brickendon St and Woolmers Lane.
Police say early investigations suggest the ute that was towing farm machinery was turning right from Brickendon St onto Woolmers Lane when the motorcycle impacted the rear right side of the vehicle.
The rider was rushed to Launceston General Hospital in a critical condition, officers say, where he sadly later died.
The driver of the ute was not physically injured.
Woman arrested after alleged late night evade incident
December 26, 8.20am: Officers accuse a 30-year-old Newnham woman of a 25 minute chase after she allegedly evaded police in Upper Burnie on Christmas Day.
Police report the woman first came into contact with police on Mount St around 10.15 before allegedly driving dangerously on the Bass Highway.
The woman was taken into custody in Penguin around 10.40pm, police confirmed, where she was arrested and charged.
Officers allege the woman was unlicensed, breaching court bail conditions and is facing several driving and drug charges.
Police say she’s been detained to appear in court.
Elsewhere, a woman allegedly drove five times over limit in Newstead around 7.30pm.
The 44-year-old was reportedly intercepted by police in Newstead around 7.30pm on Christmas Day.
Officers say she returned a breath test reading of 0.252, which is five times the legal limit.
The woman has been disqualified from driving for 12 months and is set to appear in the Launceston Magistrates Court at a later date.
Earlier, two 18-year-old P-platers were caught allegedly speeding more than 50km/h over the limit in 30 minute blitz on the Bass Highway on Christmas morning.
The first driver was believed to be driving 160km/h in a 110km/h zone near Hagley.
The other is accused of travelling at 62km/h over the limit near Deloraine.
Police confirmed both drivers face extensive periods of licence disqualification and significant fines.
One vehicle was immediately clamped by officers and the other is set to be in the coming days for a minimum of 28 days.
