A Sorell man is overjoyed after winning $900,000 on TattsLotto over the weekend, saying he’s quit his job and is thinking about all the incredible opportunities now available to him.
The Tasmanian was left dumbfounded when he realised he held one of seven division one winning entries nationally in draw 4591, which was drawn on Saturday.
Each of the seven entries were worth $913,127.93.
It’s the 12th major lottery win recorded in the state so far this year, with the collective Tasmanian winnings totalling more than $75.73m in prize money.
The latest lottery winner said he was feeling “excellent” after learning of his massive windfall.
“As soon as I saw we’d won, I looked at my wife across the table and just said, ‘I’m not going to work anymore’. She thought I was joking,” the Sorell resident said.
“We’re over the moon. We’re going to see a financial planner and get things sorted to set ourselves up and be able to live happily ever after.
“We’ve been thinking about retiring, but this just speeds things up completely.
“Next on the cards is a road trip. We’ve been planning it for a while, and now we can even upgrade our caravan, too.”
The man’s winning 50-game QuickPick entry was purchased from Sorell Lotto Hub, Kiosk 1 at Sorell Plaza.
The winning numbers in draw 4591 were 7, 42, 36, 17, 15, and 22. The supplementary numbers were 34 and 9.
Four of the winning entries were in Victoria, and one each in Tasmania, South Australia, and Queensland.
