ONE of Tasmania’s biggest gyms will open its doors to anyone and everyone this weekend in a bid to get more people active and moving across the state.
Body Fit Training (BFT) will host ‘BFT Unlocked’ on Saturday September 10 with the day designed for anyone to attend one of their group training sessions to experience the gym without locking into a membership.
The global gym franchise has five studios in the state – Hobart, Glenorchy, Launceston, Devonport and Burnie – with a sixth currently in the works.
The Tasmanian studios are owned by local sport stars George Bailey, Tim Paine and Nick Riewoldt alongside well known sports agent James Henderson.
BFT Hobart CBD studio manager Rachel Hedgman said the day was a great chance for those thinking about joining a gym to come and experience what it’s like without having to sign up.
“We are celebrating 200 studios being opened globally with every studio in Australia opening their doors on Saturday to invite anybody to come along to a free session,” Hedgman said.
“It’s going to be tunes pumping, drinks and food, lucky door prizes and a shred session which is half cardio and half strength so they get the best of both worlds.”
While Riewoldt is based in Melbourne, Bailey and Paine are regular attendees to the daily classes with the former Australian test captain recently returning to training with the Tasmania Tigers’ Sheffield Shield squad as he prepares to return to the pitch with CTPL club University.
The 37-year-old does not have a contract with Cricket Tasmania but both Cricket Tasmania CEO Dominic Baker and Hobart Hurricanes coach Geoff Vaughan have not ruled out the possibility of Paine featuring for both sides over the summer.
Saturday’s classes will run for 50 minutes at 6:30am, 7:50am, 9:10am and 10:30am and those wishing to attend a session can secure a spot by emailing hobartcbd@bodyfittraining.com.au or heading into the studio.
