Huonville Lions, Mt Pleasant mourn loss of Adam Duggan

The Tasmanian sporting community is mourning the loss of a beloved coach and father-of-three who is being remembered for his impact on and off the field.

The Tasmanian sporting community is mourning the loss of a beloved coach who is being remembered for his impact on and off the field.

Father-of-three Adam “Frizz” Duggan died suddenly earlier this week with the local footy clubs he was involved in sharing memories of his impact.

Duggan was the coach of the Huonville Lions’ under-11 team and had led the youngsters since they first started playing at under-8s level.

He also won the club’s reserves best-and-fairest in 2014.

The junior football club described him as a “coach, a mentor and a friend to so many”.

“Whether it was pulling on the boots in years past, coaching the next generation of junior Lions with patience and passion, or simply showing up every Saturday to cheer from the boundary line, Frizz brought energy, heart, and unwavering support to everyone around him,” a Huonville Lions statement said.

“He was the kind of person who made you feel welcome, made the kids he coached feel important, and made the club a fun place with a story or two to tell.

“His sudden passing has left a huge hole in our hearts as well as everyone in our Huonville Lions football community.

“Once a Lion, always a Lion.”

During his playing career, Duggan also spent time with the Mt Pleasant Football club where he won the 2019 premiership.

He had joined the club a year earlier alongside his brother, Brad.

“He was a much loved character off the field, always up for a chat whether it was with his fellow players or some of our supporters and past players,” a post on the club’s Facebook page said.

“He will be sorely missed throughout the blue and blue community.”
