Detectives investigate car jacking of delivery driver in Launceston

A Launceston food delivery driver allegedly had his car stolen after being confronted by two youths. Read what happened.

A youth brandishing a knife allegedly stole a food delivery driver’s car in Launceston on Friday night.

Police say they are investigating the report of an aggravated carjacking about 11pm in Abbott Street, East Launceston.

“A male person operating a food delivery service was approached by two young males, one brandishing a knife, who stole his vehicle,” a spokesperson said.

The stolen vehicle, a black Honda Jazz hatch, has been recovered

Police said described the youth with the knife as wearing a black hooded jumper and a black face mask with a design across the front.

The second male was wearing all dark clothing.
