The Danish Royal Family has released a new portrait just as Princess Mary wrapped up her Australian holiday.
The gala portrait, which was posted to the royal family’s official Instagram page, featured Princess Mary and the Crown Prince Frederik standing behind Queen Margrethe.
The photograph, along with a second portrait featuring Prince Frederik’s brother Prince
Joachim and his wife Marie, was released in honour of the Queen’s 50th year on the Danish throne.
It comes as Princess Mary reportedly flew out of Hobart on Wednesday night, returning to Copenhagen with her family ahead of an official royal New Year’s Eve function.
The 50-year-old princess began her Australian adventure in Sydney last week, where she was spotted jogging with her husband in Bondi, before heading to Hobart for Christmas.
Mary enjoyed the holiday season in Hobart with Frederik, her children Prince Christian, Princess Isabella, Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine, and her Tassie-based family.
A holiday highlight for the royal family was attending a JackJumpers basketball game, where Mary cheered on the Tasmanian NBL side in the Boxing Day game against the New Zealand breakers.
The family has reportedly departed Australia after their week-long trip and is expected to be back in Denmark before the New Year.
