The Danish model nephew of Tasmanian-born Queen Mary of Denmark has made a stateside visit this year instead of his aunt.
Count Nikolai of Monpezat, 25, eldest son to Prince Joachim of Denmark and Alexandra, Countess of Frederiksborg, travelled to Australia in early December for the GQ Men of the Year awards based in Sydney.
The Danish Royal has a blossoming modelling career, signed to Barcelona agency Sight Management Studio and was recognised for this at the awards before travelling south to Tasmania with model girlfriend Benedickte Thousrup and friends.
Many of Count Nikolai’s stops have been documented through pictures on Instagram, including hikes through Freycinet National Park, Mt Wellington/kunanyi and Cradle Mountain, plus stops at mountain biking town Derby in the state’s northeast and the well-known floating sauna at Lake Derby.
The trip is the first time he has visited Tasmania.
