Tammy Hembrow’s husband of just seven months has broken his silence on the couple’s shock split – weeks after she broke down in tears announcing their sudden divorce.
Matt Zukowski, 29, addressed the highly-publicised break-up on the latest episode of the ‘Where’s Your Head At?’ podcast which he hosts alongside Anna McEvoy.
The former Love Island Australia contestant married Australia’s most famous influencer in a lavish Byron Bay ceremony that reportedly cost around $220,000 in November.
But Hembrow, 31, announced their short-lived marriage was over in an emotional video last month following months of speculation from fans.
“By now you would have heard that Tammy and I are getting a divorce,” Zukowski states in the shows opener.
“There is no easy way to say this, I’m absolutely shattered to announce it, to be honest. But at the end of the day, we weren’t right for each other and in this relationship.
“I’ve learnt a lot about myself, I’ve learnt a lot about what I need in a relationship and what’s right for me.”
He kept his message on the split short, concluding by stating that despite fans wanting a “tell-all” on the nitty gritty details of his relationship’s demise, explaining he was only going to “focus on healing and moving forward with my life”.
“That’s not me, it’s not the right way to go about things,” he said.
“This is real life, it is happening to me right now, and I am still trying to process it … I hope you can give me grace as I navigate this difficult time … I’ve been struggling a lot.”
Bizarrely, the episode reportedly disappeared an hour after it was released on Wednesday according to The Outspoken Podcast, but it is currently online at the time of publication.
Hembrow took to social media at the end of June to explain her and Zukowski had called time on their marriage just 7 months after walking down the aisle.
“I wanted to finally tell you guys that I am getting a divorce,” she sobbed through tears.
“Did I think this was going to happen? No. Did I want this? No. Obviously, when you marry someone, you do it thinking … um, that it is going to be forever. I blame no one but myself.”
The heartbreaking update came after months of speculation from internet sleuths and fans.
Neither parties have given a reason for the shock split, but since the news has gone public, Hembrow appears to be hinting that the pair were sadly incompatible.
In the video posted earlier this week, Hembrow – a fitness influencer – could be seen working out on a step machine along with the caption, “A step for every time I should have listened to my sisters”.
She then added: “Gonna be here all day.”
Emilee Hembrow, her sister, then replied to the TikTok, writing, “LOL seriously though,” alongside a face-palm emoji.
Emilee previously appeared on Zukowski’s podcast, during which time she advised her then soon-to-be-brother-in-law not to hurt Hembrow.
“I hope you don’t make any mistakes. Like I really pray and hope that you don’t do anything to hurt Tammy,” Emilee said at the time.
The now estranged, soon to be ex-husband, insisted he was “not going to hurt Tammy” and had “no intention” of hurting her sister.
