Police have seized marijuana from a private school camp in regional Victoria.

Officers found the drugs after they were called to the Tylden camp in the Macedon Ranges, where students from Catholic Regional College Melton were staying earlier this week.

The school confirmed that it called Victoria Police after its leadership team became aware of claims that a small amount of marijuana had been taken on the camp.

“Student safety and wellbeing is always foremost in our minds so we promptly notified police, which led to the removal of the students involved from the camp who are now subject to College disciplinary procedures,” a school spokesman said.

CRC Melton students were at the PGL Campaspe Downs Adventure Camp, near Kyneton, where police were called to reports of the drugs, about 10pm on Monday.

The Herald Sun understands drugs were found on the camp grounds, though not in the possession of any students.

“A number of students who were present at the camp were spoken to at the time however no charges have been laid and the drugs will be destroyed,” a police spokeswoman said.
