A VEGAN university student has complained of repeated harassment on campus, saying one student had climbed through her bedroom window and thrown livers and offal on her as she slept.
Monash law and global studies student Melis Layik, 18, said she no longer felt comfortable living at Mannix College in Clayton following a series of incidents of harassment.
In one, she found a horse’s heart had been left at her bedroom door.

She said she raised concerns with the college, but nothing was done, and she moved out of the accommodation this week for fear of further attacks.
“That’s not normal behaviour — even if you hate someone, you just don’t do that,” she said.
Mannix College today confirmed allegations were being probed in an “ongoing investigation”.
Ms Layik said that one night back in August, about 3am, a young man who also lived at Mannix College was lifted to her second-floor bedroom window by two students.
He climbed in as she slept and threw offcuts on her, she said.
She said raw meat was used on at least four other occasions of harassment the same week, including a horse heart being left at her door and chicken smeared on her window.
Ms Layik said she believed meat was used because of her vegan beliefs.
But she said that when she complained to college staff, nothing was done.
“For a long time, I was so emotional,” she said.
“Then it was more frustration that they didn’t do anything ... the thing itself was really frightening.
“It was just really disgusting to be honest, I was really shocked. I just want something to be done.”
Mannix College said it could not comment “due to privacy”.
Mannix College, part of Melbourne’s Catholic Archdiocese, is an affiliated institution of Monash University.
Monash University said counselling, information and advice was available to students through its Safer Community Unit.
“Monash University takes the welfare of all of its students seriously and is committed to creating a positive and inclusive culture for all,” it said.
