A relative of the victim of a violent fight at a school north of Melbourne says the boy is “OK” but angry, as new footage emerged of violence there.

The relative said the Year 10 student at Gisborne Secondary College was walking to a teacher’s office to report another student last week when he was pushed and then punched by another classmate.

The teenage boy was left to defend himself as students filmed the fight while other classmates watched.

New fight footage emerged yesterday of two students wrestling on the floor, with one throwing punches towards another student’s head, before another boy became involved.

Principal Jon Moreley said footage of earlier clashes, revealed by the Herald Sun yesterday, depicted two unrelated altercations.

“It is very distressing to see video footage of our students behaving in this manner,” he said.

The victim’s relative said fights at the school happened “nearly every week”.

It is understood three students had been suspended as a result of that fight, which happened last Wednesday.

It came after more horrifying footage, obtained by the Herald Sun, showing a group of young boys surrounding two students facing off against one another.

The boys look at the camera before launching into a fist fight, swinging multiple punches and ending the scuffle on the ground.

The Herald Sun has been told there were several other instances of fights breaking out at the co-ed school last week.

One brawl, which took place on the basketball court, was watched by scores of students.

Mr Moreley said: “Incidents of this kind are very disappointing and do not reflect the behaviour of the overwhelming majority of our students.

“We have taken appropriate disciplinary action with the students involved and have made it clear to all students that this behaviour is entirely unacceptable.”

An Education Department spokesman said there was “no place” for violent behaviour in schools.

“The department has introduced a number of programs to encourage respectful, positive behaviour in schools and to support those who experience bullying or violence”.

It is understood police were not called over the incidents at the school.

No charges are believed to have been laid.

Another video has emerged of a schoolyard fight at an outer Melbourne college, with students filming the brutal brawls as other classmates watch on.

The new footage shows two students wrestling on the floor, with one throwing punches towards another student’s head, before another boy pulls them apart.
