WE told snapper Jason Edwards on New Year’s Eve not to come back until he had photographs that showed what it meant to be Victorian. This is his adventure.
He took 13,376 frames and drove 4635km.
He travelled by car, tram, ute, helicopter, speed boat, fishing boat, paddle steamer, tractor and on foot.
Some nights he slept under the stars in a swag.
And everywhere he went he found people happy to let him get a very personal glimpse into their lives.

Now he’s back in Melbourne (happy but exhausted), we asked him:
WHAT MADE IT SO SPECIAL
"I didn't know just how lovely it was to be welcomed into so many different lives so quickly. Whether it was a family of farmers who don't often have visitors or Eddie McGuire taking a spin in his boat while on holidays at Portsea. Fantastic."
WHAT MADE YOU LAUGH
"Just after I took the picture with Stefano, the boat hit a stick and sank. It was a mad scramble to get him back to the bank out of deep water."
WHAT WAS THE BEST PERK OF THE JOB
"The Apted family gave me a big bag of apples. They lasted for weeks and the pink ladies were incredibly sweet and juicy."

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE PICTURE
"The kids in the swimming pool with dad getting off the tractor. A classic Australian moment. Made me proud to be Australian. That lovely family let me stand on the roof of their shed while the kids were in the pool and dad was coming in for lunch. It was beautiful."
WHAT WAS THE PICTURE YOU WANTED BUT DIDN'T GET
"Shane Warne. I wanted him on Brighton Beach playing cricket with some local kids. Very sorry it didn't happen."
