A CFS volunteer has faced court charged with killing a passenger in his station wagon in a rollover on a rural road last year.
Wayne Klingberg, 56, of Freeling, is charged with aggravated causing death by dangerous driving and the alternative charge of aggravated driving without due care.
Mr Klingberg was behind the wheel of a Hyundai station wagon when it crashed on Owen Rd at Hamley Bridge about 4.45pm on July 1 last year.
A 62-year-old man from Stockport, who was a passenger in the car, died at the scene.
Mr Klingberg also suffered injuries in the crash and was flown to the Royal Adelaide Hospital for treatment.
On Thursday, Mr Klingberg appeared in the Adelaide Magistrates Court where it was expected he would enter a plea to the two charges.
However, the matter was adjourned while further information was gathered by the prosecution and passed to the defence.
Magistrate Simon Smart heard that police and prosecutors needed to liaise with the next-of-kin of the 62-year-old man.
The prosecutor said she was also waiting on a post-mortem report that would confirm the cause of death.
Further police statements, dashcam footage and data from the ute’s airbag was also expected to be given to the defence before Mr Klingberg entered a plea.
Mr Smart refused the application for a 14-week adjournment asked for by the prosecution.
He adjourned the matter for eight weeks with the matter to be heard again in March.
