A convicted killer driver and father of two has faced court charged with three traffic incidents across Adelaide in two hours – but says he didn’t do anything wrong.

Virginia truckie of 35 years, Richard Murray Timperon, told media outside Elizabeth Magistrates Court after receiving supervised bail, that each incident on Monday – including two collisions – were not his fault.

“I haven’t done anything … it’s like you’re guilty until you’re proven innocent,” Mr Timperon said on Friday.

The 57-year-old said he would represent himself because “a lawyer’s only going to try and fancy up what I tell him” and he “knew the truth”.

“Everything I’ve defended myself so far, I’ve won,” he said.

Prosecutors alleged around 7.20am on Monday, August 12, Mr Timperon was driving a white Kenworth truck towing a single white tipper trailer that was involved in the first of three incidents on the road – including an alleged assault.

Mr Timperon had allegedly cut off the truck at the entrance to an OTR truck stop and service station at Bolivar.

Police alleged Mr Timperon got out of his truck and approached the other truck, opened the door and grabbed the driver by the shirt before striking him in the head.

“We say, punched him multiple times to the chin, took the keys and threw them in the face (of the driver),” prosecutors said.

Police further allege 20 minutes later, the 54-year-old was involved in two collisions on South Road at Hindmarsh, near the intersection with Grange Road with a white van stopped at the intersection.

They alleged later, about 10am that same morning, he was involved in a second crash with a black sedan on Grange Rd at Findon, and again failed to stop.

Mr Timperon was arrested after attending the Elizabeth Police Station on Thursday and issued with a 12-month instant loss of licence

He is charged with assault, driving in a reckless or dangerous manner, failing to give particulars to a police officer and failing to stop and give particulars to person at crash scene.

Prosecutors opposed bail, saying the Virginia man had pending files including for aggravated assault, six breaches of an intervention order and a historical conviction for causing death by dangerous driving in crash in 2000.

Reports by The Advertiser from 2003 said Mr Timperon was found guilty by a jury for causing the death 17-year-old P-plater Russel Fiebig of Booleroo Centre.

The duty solicitor for Mr Timperon said his client had a valid defence for each incident, and had been compliant with police during their interview.

Magistrate Edward Stratton-Smith remarked that recent case outcomes showed Mr Timperon “had a bit of a temper”, but released him on supervised bail to return to court in October.
