US rockers Pearl Jam makes call on Adelaide 500 gig in November

Legendary rockers Pearl Jam have made a decision on whether they will be coming to perform at the Adelaide 500 in November.

Legendary rockers Pearl Jam will not be headlining the Adelaide 500’s after race concerts this year, despite announcing their first Australian tour in a decade this week.

The Seattle rock giants, fronted by Eddie Vedder, have booked three stadium shows in Melbourne, Sydney and the Gold Coast in November as part of their Dark Matter world tour.

Their three concerts on November 13 at the Heritage Bank Stadium on the Gold Coast, on November 16 at Marvel Stadium and on November 21 at Giants Stadium in Sydney, left open Sunday, November 17 – the last day of this year’s high-octane Supercars event in Adelaide.

This led to growing speculation that Pearl Jam could be coming to town to take on the high-profile slot, which was last year filled by Robbie Williams.

But the band’s Australian promoter, Live Nation, poured cold water on the rumours on Thursday.

“The only cities that Pearl Jam will play in Australia in 2024 are Melbourne, Sydney and the Gold Coast,” a Live Nation spokeswoman said in a statement.

Adelaide’s season finale Supercars event has been no stranger to big names, with the Labor-revived race also boasting Jimmy Barnes and The Killers as headliners in recent years.

Pearl Jam frontman Vedder has previously visited Adelaide, and caught up with former Adelaide Crows skipper Rory Sloane to discuss his charity EB Research, which hopes to find a cure for rare genetic disease Epidermolysis Bullosa.

Last year, Vedder’s wife Jill — a well-known philanthropist and activist – praised the work of UniSA’s Future Industries Institute for its work on treatment for the disease.

Fans will have two options to buy tickets for Pearl Jam’s Australian tour dates, neither of which involve the typical ticketing agency sales.

The only pre-sale will be via the band’s long-running Ten Club. The members-only presale will be held through Ticketmaster Request for eligible members. Only paid Ten Club members active as of February 12 are eligible to participate in this presale with more information via pearljam.com.

For another shot at scoring tickets, fans can register for an opportunity to participate in the Dark Matter World Tour 2024 sale at shops.ticketmasterpartners.com/pearl-jam by 11.59pm on February 18.
