Two assaults in the southern suburbs at Mitchell Park and Marion could be linked as police investigate service station and home assaults

A southern suburbs woman has been assaulted at her house overnight after three men smashed through a window. See the neighbour’s CCTV.

A woman has been taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries after being assaulted by three men with a stick in her southern suburbs home.

Police have launched an investigation to find the three suspects who are believed to have smashed a window at the Mitchell Park property before assaulting a 68-year-old woman with a stick.

Officers were called to the disturbance on Maldon Ave at 3am on Saturday morning.

A local resident’s CCTV captured the disturbing actions of the group of offenders which assaulted the woman.

The young men could be heard shouting among themselves, before one person approached a resident’s vehicle and tested if the doors were open.

However, after failing to gain access to the car, the offender realised he was being recorded on camera which prompted them to smash the device.

The three suspects were not located at the time.

Police are inquiring if the Mitchell Park assault is linked to an incident at a Marion service station a short time earlier in the night.

Officers were called to the Marion Rd location just before 2am after reports of four people being assaulted by two suspects.

Two of the victims, an 18-year-old and a 24-year-old man, were taken to hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

Crime scene investigators attended the service station and investigations are continuing to try to identify and locate the suspects.

They are described as young men of Aboriginal appearance, wearing hoodies and dark clothing.
