A 16-year-old boy has been stabbed in the back, bashed and robbed by two suspects after they allegedly harassed and followed him onto a public bus in Adelaide’s western-suburbs on Wednesday.

The incident occurred on an Adelaide Metro bus on Hanson Rd, Mansfield Park at about 7.30pm, with the teenager saying he was unaware he had been stabbed until after the attack, which also left him with a dislocated shoulder.

After the attack, police and emergency crews were called a short distance from where the teenager boarded, where they located and spoke to the victim.

“Police attended and spoke with the victim, a 16-year-old boy from Woodville Gardens who had been assaulted and stabbed in the shoulder by unknown offenders,” a spokesperson said.

“‘The victim was conveyed to hospital for the treatment of minor injuries.

“Police searched the area and were unable to locate the suspects.”

Speaking to 7News Adelaide, the teenager said the incident started when he was approached by two suspects while waiting for a bus, who then threatened him and said they had robbed other people in the past.

“They were talking to each other saying how they’d robbed someone before and how they don’t care, they’ll rob anyone, stab anyone,” he said.

He said the two suspects followed him onto the bus when it arrived and continued to harass and threaten him while on-board.

“I pressed the button to get off and that’s when they grabbed me and they said, ‘give me your phone, give me everything you’ve got’, and I said, ‘bro don’t do this come on, I just want to go home’.” he said.

He said he refused to give them what they wanted, which resulted in a fight breaking out on the bus.

“After that they were yelling at the bus driver to let them out and then they ran off after that,“ he said.

The attack left the boy with a dislocated shoulder, and he said he did not realise until later that he had been stabbed in the back also.

The boy’s mother said she was proud of her son for sticking up for himself, but said she would have preferred if he had just handed over his belongings.

“I’m worried about his long term, how it’s going to affect him mentally.” she said.

The teenager now says that he “probably won’t go out as late as much” after the attack.
