Red belly black snake caught eating whole family of mice

A snake catcher has made a gruesome discovery at a call out to a Willunga home this week.

The snake handler said it best when he said the slippery visitor “must’ve been hungry as”.

A video posted to social media by Snake Catchers Adelaide shows a red belly black snake being caught in a yard, ready to remove out of harm’s way when suddenly, out comes it’s dinner.

“This red belly ate the whole family of mice!,” the post accompanying the video said.

“I got a call from Willunga South this evening as they were about to go in to feed the birds and they noticed a red belly in the aviary.

“I caught it and took it outside and noticed a tail started to come out of the snake’s mouth but by the time I got the phone out – out came an entire family of mice.”

And it was not just a modest family of four; 10 mice all up from babies through to adults came out.

Commenters on social media congratulated the snake for its work in removing vermin from the property, calling it a “job well done”, while others related to the snake’s post meal regurgitation.

“Eyes are bigger than its tummy. I think we’ve all been there,” one poster said.
