Store worker held up at knifepoint as female trio allegedly rob Smokoz in CBD for cigarettes

Female trio aged in their teens to early 20s, were caught on CCTV holding a store clerk up at knifepoint for “50-60” packets of cigarettes and making away with the haul in Adelaide’s CBD.

Three female suspects are on the run after they allegedly held up a convenience store at knifepoint in Adelaide’s CBD on Monday night, before making away with a large haul of cigarettes.

Just before 9pm, police were called to the Smokoz on Grenfell St, to reports that three females entered the store and demanded cigarettes from the store assistant while holding her at knifepoint.

CCTV footage, obtained by 7News Adelaide, shows the three suspects walking into the store, and rushing behind the counter.

One suspect aims a knife at the store worker, while the other two raid the cigarette cupboard behind the counter.

The store worker, an international student, spoke to 7News Adelaide following the ordeal, and said the suspects threatened to “kill” her if she did not hand over the cigarettes.

“They showed me a knife and gave me a threat they will kill me if I will not hand over the cigarettes to them,” she said.

“I was very scared because they were having a knife in their hands.

“They have taken 50-60 boxes of cigarettes … and even tried to take cash as well.

“I’m feeling very scared to work here now … very scared.”

Police said the suspects stole an amount of cigarettes, before exiting the store and were last seen walking towards King William St.

Patrols searched the area but were unable to locate the suspects who have been described as being aged in their late teens or early 20s.

The store worker was not injured.
