A neighbour who witnessed a brutal attack at Murray Bridge, which has left a man fighting for his life, has revealed she saw four men standing over an injured man yelling “don’t come back”, before the victim was picked up and rolled away in a shopping trolley.

It is alleged the 34-year-old victim was viciously hit on the back of his head – causing him to lose consciousness – before he was placed in the trolley and transported up to 70m away from the scene.

The attack itself occurred just before 12pm on Tuesday on Cawte St before the victim was conveyed along Gail Crescent and dumped on Neumann Ave.

Local Lisa Giddings, 43, said she heard the “shouting and yelling” before the attack, which prompted her to peep over her backyard fence.

“When I looked over the fence, I saw a guy lying on the ground and he was face up,” she told The Advertiser. “There was blood everywhere … on his face and just pooling around him.

“And I saw four men, they were standing around the man on the floor, and they were yelling.

“They were yelling ‘don’t ever comeback’ and swear words and some more swear words.

“Then one man put the (victim) in a trolley and started pushing him up the street.”

Ms Giddings said she was left feeling shaken by the events and she returned to hide in her home.

Police said the victim was treated at the scene by paramedics before being taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital. He remains in a critical condition.

Murray Mallee Detectives and forensic officers are investigating the incident and remain on the hunt for the attackers.

Police said they do not believe the incident to be a random attack, and have asked anyone who witnessed it or may have information to assist the investigation is asked to contact Crimestoppers.

Another neighbour, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, claimed she often hears the four men who are believed to be involved in this incident causing a disturbance in the area.

“The men start yelling almost every night,” she said. “We don’t know what happens there or what they do but they’re just really loud.”
