Restaurant robbery at Woodville Gardens, hunt for suspect wearing fluoro

The hunt is on for a man in a fluoro top who threatened staff at a popular Adelaide restaurant with what looked like a gun before stealing cash in a lightning-quick robbery.

It took less than two minutes for a fluoro thug to rob a beloved Woodville Gardens Vietnamese eatery on Friday morning.

CCTV footage shows the man – hooded, with a firearm in one hand, and an empty shopping bag in the other – entering the Hanson Rd Banh Mi shop and making a beeline towards the till.

He pointed his gun at the two female workers in store, including Xuyen Le.

After the ordeal, Ms Le told The Advertiser the thug nudged her and instructed her to “open the till, open the till”. To which she just told him “OK”.

Ms Le said she obeyed his demand because she believed it would ensure no one got physically hurt in the holdup.

However, she believed the firearm was a fake.

Meanwhile, the business owner Phuong Nguyen said this was the first time they had been held up with a gun and so brazenly.

Ms Nguyen said she was “proud of her staff” and would consider ramping up security measures.

The hunt is still on for the man, man who entered the restaurant about 6.15am on Friday.

After stealing cash he was last seen heading south on Hanson Rd.

The man is described as wearing a long-sleeved fluoro orange top and blue trousers.

No one was physically injured and CIB detectives and crime scene investigators went to the scene.

Police are appealing for anyone who saw a person matching the description or has any dashcam footage along Hanson Rd about 6.15am to contact Crime Stoppers at www.crimestopperssa.com.au.
