Inside the home, a man and his dog were able to evacuate safely before MFS crews arrived.
The resident of the second property at the front of the block, Monika was unaware that a fire had started behind her home, but was safely evacuated with her new born baby after neighbours knocked on her door.
Speaking to 7News outside the home, Monika said she did not know where the smoke was coming from.
“It was really scary. When I called my husband I was crying like, I think because, from inside, I didn’t understand what it is (was) because it was all black,” she said.
“I thought it was our house.”
Firefighters contained the fire in 20 minutes and it took crews an hour before the fire was fully extinguished.
An MFS spokesperson said an occupant of the home self-evacuated and safely removed a pet dog
No injuries were reported.
Fire investigators will attend the scene to determine the cause and assess the damage.
