The first police officer to arrive on scene after innocent man Jason De Ieso was gunned down at his Pooraka workshop has described the distressing scene to a Supreme Court jury who have been shown CCTV of the incident.

Eight men are standing trial in the Supreme Court charged with murdering Mr De Ieso at his crash repair business on November 21, 2012, in the midst of a bikie feud between the Hells Angels and Finks.

On Monday, senior constable Luke Ortmann told the jury he was first to arrive at the scene.

“There was a group of workers at the workshop, they seemed quite distressed and asking for help,” he said.

He said he saw Mr De Ieso lying on his back inside the workshop, with another man kneeling beside him.

“It appeared he had been shot in the head, there was about three or four bullet wounds in his forehead, a large wound to the rear of his head and there was a pool of blood surrounding his head,” he said.

He told the jury he then secured the scene, called for an ambulance and retrieved a video recorder.

“I activated the video camera in case there were any dying declarations and, shortly after that time, an ambulance officer arrived,” he said.

He said officers found a bullet when Mr De Ieso was moved slightly to gain better access for medical help.

Vision of the incident was also played to the jury on Monday.

The footage shows men inside the workshop sitting around a lunch table and ducking for cover, as Mr De Ieso and another man flee from an office room.

The footage cuts out moments before Mr De Ieso is killed.

The jury were told none of the men can be seen on the vision captured from inside the workshop, but nine men can be seen on the vision captured on two CCTV cameras mounted outside the workshop.

The jury were also shown slowed down and zoomed versions of the footage.

They are alleged to be: Husain Alzuain, 35, of Goodwood, Daniel Mark Jalleh, 34, of Clovelly Park, Musa Ali Alzuain, 30 of St Morris, Nicholas Sianis, 36 of Beverley, Mohamed Alzuain, 31, of Mile End, Seywan Moradi, 36, of Walkley Heights, Kyle Pryde, 34, of Adelaide and Ross Montgomery, 38, of Andrews Farm.

Each of the men has pleaded not guilty to a charge of murder.

Separate CCTV vision from another business, across the road from Mr De Ieso’s workshop, was also played, showing the moments two small white cars arrived carrying nine men. One of the men alleged to be involved has since died.

Seconds after the shooting, the men flee to the cars which reverse back before darting down the same side street they arrived from.

Opening the trial last week prosecutor Jim Pearce KC said each of the charged men – except Musa Alzuain – were alleged to be members of the Hells Angels. Musa Alzuain is the man prosecutors allege fired the fatal shots.

They have alleged Mr De Ieso was not the group’s target, and was shot because the men were looking for Finks member Charles Bonnici amid an escalating gang war.

On Friday, the 15 jury members visited the Pooraka warehouse where Mr De Ieso was found dead for a viewing.

The trial, before auxiliary Justice Brian Martin and the jury, is continuing.
