A young woman in a pink dressing gown filmed a group of men as they chased another man through his own home with a knife, crowbar and machete in a terrifying home invasion, a court has heard.
Nikita Peacock, 21, of Christie Downs, appeared in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court on Monday charged with aggravated serious criminal trespass and attempted murder – her co-accused was due to face court on Tuesday in a bedside hearing after surgery for injuries sustained during the alleged attack.
He is charged with aggravated serious criminal trespass, attempted murder and aggravated cause harm with intent.
The court heard a second man who is on the run allegedly engaged in text messages with his co-accused that said they would “go and get” the alleged victim “to whack” him.
Opposing bail for Ms Peacock, a police prosecutor told Magistrate Kylie Schulz the accused allegedly filmed the ordeal while her co-accused chased the victim through the hallway of his Morphett Vale property.
The 27-year-old man was allegedly stabbed in the back during the attack, suffering a perforated lung.
“He (the victim) comes to the door and they chase him down the hallway into the kitchen or the laundry,” the prosecutor said.
“He (the victim) arms himself with a knife and he is attacked by three other co-accused and the female in the dressing gown is filming it on her phone.
“There has been some early assessment of Ms Peacock’s phone and it’s believed there has been an interaction between her … she’s performed some work (at the victim’s) home address during the week. Because of that involvement, that’s where the animosity has risen.”
Emergency services rushed to a property on Columba St, Morphett Vale, about 12.45am on Saturday after being alerted to the incident.
Police found the occupant of the house suffering stab wounds. He was rushed to hospital, where the injuries were deemed non-life-threatening.
While police were at Morphett Vale, her co-accused was captured on CCTV also arriving at Flinders Medical Centre with serious stab wounds suspected of having been received during the same attack and was later arrested.
On Monday, a duty solicitor for Ms Peacock said the alleged charges were contested.
“It’s not necessarily contested that Ms Peacock is that person in the dressing gown, but it is contested that she had any knowledge of anything to do with the actual charges that are before the court – and knowledge of any intention to be involved in any of those charges or anything related to the actual offending before the court today.”
Ms Schulz declined Ms Peacock’s bail application and remanded her in custody to appear in the Adelaide Magistrates Court in July.
