Man taken to hospital, another arrested after northern suburbs road rage incident

Two tradies have clashed on a busy main road during peak-hour traffic in the northern suburbs, with one man arrested and another taken to hospital after a road rage incident. Video: 9NEWS

A fiery altercation has ensued between two tradies on a busy northern suburbs main road, with one rushed to hospital and the other taken into custody. It took place after a heated road rage incident during peak-hour traffic.

CCTV footage, obtained by 9 NEWS, shows the harrowing moment a man armed with a metal pole began swinging at an unsuspecting driver on Churchill Rd at about 8:30am on Friday morning – claiming he “broke my mirror”, before threatening to stab him.

The driver of a white van, the alleged victim of the ordeal, can be seen trying to apprehend his alleged aggressor, swearing and repeatedly asking: “what are you doing?”.

He can be heard telling police “he tried to veer into me”, while the man armed with the pole shouts: “just hurry up and get a patrol here before there’s a 504” – a police code used to refer to a sudden death.

Shocked onlookers told 9 NEWS the altercation began after the grey van attempted to change lanes and allegedly hit the white van in the process.

“Just wait a bit and then everything will be okay,” Linh Nguyen said. “It’s just in the morning – relax.”

“It’s really scary – I can’t even imagine if it happened with me,” Jayanika Patel said. “I don’t know what’s going on with people.”

SA Police officers attended the scene of the incident and arrested the driver of the grey van.
