Police are hunting for a man they believe who drove a car into a cafe as a woman was sheltering inside.
Patrols were called to a Cafe Settebello on Newton Rd, Campbelltown, about 8pm on Sunday to reports of the crash.
According to police, a woman had been taking refuge inside the cafe during an altercation with the driver of a silver Holden sedan.
The driver, wearing a grey jumper, and grey track pants, could be seen kicking the door to the cafe before picking up one of the outdoor chairs and flinging it at the glass.
The man then walked off before driving his Holden sedan into the front of the cafe, smashing the glass, police claim.
No one was injured and the man fled the scene. Wooden boards could be seen covering the damaged windows on Monday morning.
Police believe the pair are known to each other and this was not a random incident.
A Dog Operations patrol spotted the Holden sedan on Main North Rd, Prospect, about 8.45pm and followed it into the carpark of a fast-food restaurant.
The driver then allegedly rammed the patrol vehicle and crashed into a Ford Ranger parked in the carpark.
The car drove off and was abandoned in John St, Prospect, where the driver ran off.
Police searched the area but the man has not yet been found.
A police officer suffered an injured hand, which is believed to have occurred while smashing the window of the Commodore in an attempt to stop the vehicle in the carpark at Prospect.
The Holden was seized by police and is suspected of being stolen.
Police are still hunting for the man and are appealing for anyone with information that may help the investigation to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
It was announced last week that Cafe Settebello’s Golden Grove eatery would close on Sunday and make way for a Pancake Kitchen at the site.
There is no suggestion the closure of the Golden Grove site and Sunday night’s incident are linked.
