SA Police: What to do at a crash scene

A learner driver who ploughed a car into a tree at Salisbury Heights allegedly tried to make a getaway before he was arrested.

The 34-year-old Elizabeth Vale man crashed into the tree, located on a median strip on Main North Rd, just before midday on Sunday.

Police said he allegedly attempted to leave the scene but was quickly apprehended by officers and arrested for driving without due care and other traffic offences.

When police conducted checks, they found the man only held a learner’s permit and did not have L-plates or a qualified driver present.

The man had also been taken to hospital for minor injuries and mandatory drug and alcohol testing while the car was towed from the scene.

Police are continuing to investigate the crash.
