A middle-aged Riverland man has faced court charged with historical child abuse offences, including disturbing allegations he sexually abused a teen girl for nearly five years.
Nicholas Lawrence Moore, 57, appeared in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Thursday via video link from the Adelaide Remand Centre to enter pleas for the alleged offences, which date back to 2015.
Mr Moore, of Loxton, pleaded not guilty to gross indecency and a retrospective charge of maintaining an unlawful sexual relationship with a child – now known as sexual abuse of a child.
Court documents, obtained by The Advertiser, allege Mr Moore engaged in a number of sexual acts with – “or towards” – his alleged victim between 2015 and 2019, when she was under the age of 17.
The court documents alleged he touched her sexually on multiple occasions and caused her to touch him.
The also alleged that “between January 2015 and August 2019 at Loxton” he committed an act of gross indecency in front of a person under the age of 16 years.
On Thursday, Magistrate Brian Nitschke remanded Mr Moore in custody to face the District Court in October.
He will be arraigned for trial.
