A family-run donut shop in Adelaide’s south has closed after just a year in business, with their three-year-old son breaking the news to followers.

A family-run donut shop in Brighton has closed after just a year in business, informing customers in a bittersweet message on social media on Monday.
Josh Rivers and his partner Chimere opened Landough’s on Jetty Road a year ago but –through their three-year-old son Lando - shared the sad news they were closing the store effective immediately.
“I assume some people might think that just because I’m a three-year-old I don’t have my eye on the current state of the economy, however that is absolutely wrong,” the post reads.
“Everyone knows it and we’re all probably sick of hearing it but hospitality is being kicked in the teeth every day of the week, and twice on days that end with Y. And after much market analysis one this is clear, no one can justify spending hard earned money on small treats like donuts.”
The post also says “donuts don’t fit into the weekly budget anymore, especially when Curtis’s (Stone) $10 feed-your-family meals now constitutes entirely as a bag of shredded cheese and believe me, as a toddler cheese is at the top of my nutritional pyramid thingy”.
“Besides, I’ve got WAY too much on my plate right now, I’ve got a new brother only 4 weeks away and I need to learn how to “share” apparently,” the post reads.
However, the toddler has hinted that the family, which also runs specialty coffee shop CREAM, has something in the pipeline.
It comes in the same month West End restaurant Stem, Italian eatery Midnight Spaghetti and Roxie’s – one of the city’s first pop-up bars – announced they would be shutting in the next few months.
