A new podcast from Kellie Finlayson will go beyond her inspirational cancer fight and put a positive spin on all the “sh*t things in life”.

Finlayson will be joined by fellow bowel cancer survivor Sophie Edwards and Jordan Lambropoulos, who suffers from Crohn’s disease, for their new show, Sh*t Talkers: The Good, the Bad and the Offensive.

The close friends met about 18 months ago while they were underdoing treatment in the same hospital, and bonded over their shared experiences.

Finlayson has battled terminal bowel cancer for almost two years, though the disease is stable and has currently stopped spreading.

The wife of Port Adelaide star Jeremy, the 27-year-old said their new project will cover more than their individual health battles.

“Literally, we are connected through our inability to sh*t – or to control it – but we also have other sh*t things in life,” Finlayson said.

“We are still just people and we’ve got more to our lives than just the diseases. They don’t define us. So we want to make sure that comes across as well.”

The trio will launch the podcast with an intimate ‘In Conversation’ live event at The Precinct in Alberton, on December 12.

“We literally get thousands of messages a week from people asking questions, stating opinions, whatever it is,” said Finlayson.

“We want to give those people – a pretty good online community that we each have – an opportunity to hear us speak about the things we don’t often talk about online.”

Former Bachelor star Edwards, 36, said there were many “hidden” struggles which she hoped to shine a light on.

“Because we don’t look sick, people think we must not be sick. They think you’ve survived the disease and you’re fine now. But there’s lifelong things you battle with, whether it’s mental illness, fertility issues,” she said. “It’s about living life after and during treatment.”

The first person to receive stem-cell transplant for Crohn’s disease, Lambropoulos, 25, said the trio connected over their ability find humour amid their trying personal circumstances.

“As young people going through something that is usually stigmatised, we were able to make light of it in a way, to make it easier on us,” she said.

“We don’t want people to think it’s just us talking about our conditions because that’s not it – that’s just the basis of how we met. It’s not the complete picture.”

In Conversation – The good the bad and the offensive with Kellie Finlayson, The Precinct at Alberton, December 12, 7.30pm. Tickets available at eventbrite.com.au.
