Katy Perry Adelaide review, set list: US popstar hits Entertainment Centre in first of four Lifetimes Tour concerts

She’s here! After months of anticipation, Adelaide fans have got their first glimpse of pop superstar Katy Perry in action. See the photos from the show.

She’s here!

One of the world’s biggest pop stars, Katy Perry has kicked off the first of four shows on her Lifetimes Tour in Adelaide.

Known for her out-there costumes and massive production value, Perry brought her larger-than-life energy to the Adelaide Entertainment Centre for the first time in six years.

Despite critics dubbing the tour as “cringe” and Perry’s recent bout of illness sending fans into a panic, the ‘Roar’ singer shook it all off from the moment she ascended her infinity-shaped stage.

She opened with song, ARTIFICIAL from her most recent album - singing while hanging from a series of glowing wires.

“What’s up Adelaide?” was enough to send her fans into overdrive.

And one member of the audience in particular was on Perry’s mind - SA Premier Peter Malinuaskas.

The star singled out the Premier, recounting their now famous Grand Final day encounter at the MCG where she was taken to task for leaving Adelaide off her initial tour plans.

But we all make mistakes, the singer told the crowd.

“I was silly I was foolish when Adelaide was left off the docket for the Lifetimes Tour,” she said.

But that changed when “some guy” intercepted her at the MCG and said “you’ve got to come to Adelaide”.

Appearing to spot the Premier in the crowd, Ms Perry thanked Mr Malinauskas for highlighting her mistake.

While it was not a hit in the Australian charts, diehard KatyCats knew every word, providing Perry with a warm welcome to South Australia.

The tune was followed by power ballad Chained To The Rhythm - which provides a commentary on modern day obsessions with technology set to an ever-catchy...dare I say...rhythm.

Dancers hooked up to various devices brought a dystopian-like atmosphere supported by the series of glitching screens behind the band.

As for Perry she was dressed as what can only be described as a glam robot, looking like she had jumped straight out of a video game.

With a full set of hits to come, South Aussie fans are in for a night beyond their wildest ‘Teenage Dream’.
