The Advertiser has decided not to reveal the identity of the Ceduna man out of respect for the cultural traditions and the family of the man.

The Advertiser understands each death is more than a statistic, as these are real people that are lost on our roads every year.

Family and friends of the Ceduna man have shared their pain on social media.

Blake Adam Richard Barrett took to Facebook and reposted the news of his friend’s death, sharing his disbelief after only speaking to the Ceduna man as recently as yesterday.

“I’m wishing it wasn’t true my brother,” he wrote.

“Was only yarning with you yesterday gonna (sic) miss you calling me up for yarn and yarn about cars. I will always appreciate all the stuff you done for me. Loves my brother.”

Liam Paerata, another friend of the man, expressed his pain writing: “Love you my brother. You will be greatly missed by everyone. I’m f**king hurting right. Rest in peace.”

Meanwhile, under another post Nara Gibson wrote: “I’m really gonna miss u ‘n’ ur cheeky ways.”

Many other commenters simply limited themselves to writing ‘RIP’ or wishing ‘my condolences,’ while others pointed out how sad the death is with Christmas only a few days away.

The 60-year-old truck driver from Quorn was delivering The Advertiser newspaper when driving.

He was seriously injured and taken to Port Augusta Hospital.

He is now in a stable condition and is expected to be flown to the Royal Adelaide Hospital.
