A former private school staffer has pleaded guilty to allegations she sexually abused a boy under the age of 17.
The woman in her 30s, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, spoke only once during her brief court hearing, telling Chief Magistrate Mary-Louise Hribal she was guilty of maintaining an unlawful sexual relationship with a child.
The court heard she had engaged in two or more unlawful acts with the boy, aged under 17, in Adelaide between January 2009 and December 2011.
She pleaded guilty to the charge of maintaining an unlawful sexual relationship with the boy – including communicating with him for a prurient purpose with the intention of making him amenable to sexual activity, sending him pornographic images, and causing him to touch her.
The offences did not involve anyone at the school the woman was working in at the time of her arrest.
The woman was remanded on continuing bail to appear in the District Court in May, where a date will be set for sentencing submissions.
SA Police said members of the public who have any information about persons involved in child sexual offences were urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or online at www.crimestopperssa.com.au – You can remain anonymous.
