Police have raided the home of the former Liberal leader in the wake of explosive footage appearing to show him snorting a white powder.

Police have raided the home of former Liberal leader David Speirs in the wake of explosive footage appearing to show him snorting a white powder.

Neighbours told The Advertiser they saw three police officers attend the home at 11pm on Thursday, September 26.

The group investigating the home stayed several hours and were engaging in “forensic-type snooping”, according to a witness.

The group investigating the home spent hours “taking photos from all angles inside and on the front balcony”.

A witness said they believed a sniffer dog was used as part of the investigation.

Earlier, the Advertiser broke the story that the former opposition leader’s house had been raided which SA Police have now confirmed in a statement.

“Police can confirm a premises in Strickland Ave Kingston Park was searched on September 26 as part of an ongoing investigation. No further comment will be made.”

The Advertiser understands Mr Speirs is considering making a public statement later today.
