Chelsea Becirevic is feeling right at home in Adelaide as she prepares to join a star-studded guest list at next week’s LIV Golf event at Grange.
The glamorous partner of Port Adelaide ruckman Ivan Soldo will be among a who’s who of Australia’s sports and entertainment scene heading greenside for the three-day tournament, starting on February 14.
Ms Becirevic, Adelaide Fringe star Joanna Arul and former Big Brother contestant Talia Rycroft enjoyed a sneak peek of the course’s hospitality facilities, dubbed Adelaide’s answer to the Birdcage at Melbourne’s spring racing carnival.
Ms Becirevic said she can’t wait to soak up the event’s glitz and glamour at the iconic Watering Hole.
“When I first found out LIV golf was in Adelaide, it made me so excited. My mum is a golfer, Ivan loves it too but he’s not great at it,” she said.
“I can’t wait to meet more people in Adelaide and to see the city come to life, it’s going to be really nice. It’s a great way to promote Adelaide to the country and internationally.”
Other stars heading to Grange Golf Club next week include Carrie Bickmore, surfer Mick Fanning, Dylan Alcott, Grace Hayden, Tommy Little, Hugh Sheridan, Usman Khawaja, plus a host of local footy identities such as Taylor Walker, Connor Rozee, Travis Boak, Jordan Dawson, Kane Cornes and Erin Phillips.
There’s also an invite-only Opening Drive Party being held at SkyCity Adelaide, which will feature all of LIV’s biggest stars including Australian Cam Smith, US legend Phil Mickelson, and two-time US Open champion Bryson DeChambeau.
About 100,000 people are expected to line the fairways across the three days, up from about 94,000 last year, with over 40 per cent of fans coming from outside South Australia.
There are also new hospitality facilities on offer, while more viewing platforms and grandstands have been added around the course.
The popular Watering Hole on the 12th has also been improved with about 5,000 spectators tipped to pack out the hole each day.
Back in Adelaide after a summer spent travelling, Ms Becirevic and her Power beau recently moved into their first home together.
“We’ve lived together before but we’ve always had housemates or lived with friends... this is the first time it’s just been us to, and my dog Paddington, of course,” she said.
“We’re fully moved in and all ready for the year. It’s been nice to set up the house together.”
Originally from the Gold Coast, the 24-year-old model and marketer admitted it hasn’t been easy in the limelight since making the move to SA with Soldo at the end of 2023.
“At first it used to get to me, I wasn’t used to being in the spotlight,” she said.
“I think as you go through it, you learn the right people to trust and don’t listen to (the noise). “When I turn my phone on now, I just have to laugh – that’s the best way to go about it.”
Ms Becirevic dismissed speculation that she was angling at a move back to Melbourne, after Soldo’s off-season trade request, and said the couple now couldn’t be happier.
“Everything played out the way it was supposed to. We’re so happy to be here, despite what people have said. I’m here permanently now and it’s been nice to meet people... everyone has been so lovely. It’s made all the difference,” she said.
Friday is sold out with limited hospitality tickets available. General admission and hospitality tickets are still available for Saturday and Sunday’s play.
