An Adelaide Crows player has been reported to police after allegedly sending an unauthorised image of a woman to a former teammate.

The Adelaide Football Club has reprimanded the player, describing his conduct as “totally unacceptable”.

The club is also providing support to the woman.

It is understood the player, in his 20s, shared an image of a woman to a delisted player, also in his 20s, via Snapchat in January.

The Advertiser is not naming the player or the former player involved.

SA Police confirmed they received a report “of an image being distributed by mobile phone of a woman from Mitchell Park in January”.

“After speaking with the victim, she has indicated she does not wish to pursue the matter any further and the matter has been filed,” a police spokesperson said.

Police have also confirmed they are not pursuing the matter.

When contacted by The Advertiser, the club confirmed it was aware of the matter and said it took immediate action in relation to it.

“The Adelaide Football Club is aware of an incident involving one of its AFL-listed players who captured and circulated an unauthorised image,” it said in a statement.

“Upon being made aware of the matter, the club completed a full investigation, notified the AFL’s Integrity and Security Unit, and spoke with South Australia Police.”

The club also condemned the player’s conduct.

“The club deems the player’s behaviour to be totally unacceptable and he has since undertaken counselling and education,” the statement read.

“The victim has been provided with the appropriate support and the club recognises the sensitivities of the matter.”

The AFL confirmed it had been informed of the incident and it had reached out to the woman, who said she did not wish to take the matter further.

In an unrelated incident, The Advertiser reported in March that Gaza Football Club, in the Adelaide Football League, had issued a warning to its senior group over an alleged nude photographs scandal and a controversial ‘fines list’.

Club emails revealed a ‘fines list’ set up by some senior players included a $50 fine “if you don’t get your wand out in the shower”.

The emails also revealed an alleged incident involving some senior players sending photos of topless barmaids to a player and coach group which included players aged under 18 years.

The club released a statement at the time saying it would not tolerate the alleged behaviour, which reportedly occurred in January, and it had issued a verbal warning to its entire senior playing group.
