IT only took local muso Trent Bell 30 minutes to test the health of his most important asset.
The singer and songwriter is urging Townsville to do the same in recognition of Hearing Loss Awareness Week.
Mr Bell said looking after his hearing was imperative in his line of work.
“I feel getting your hearing checked is as important as getting your skin and eyes checked and it’s something we should be made more aware of,” he said.
“Being a full-time musician my hearing is definitely a vital part of my career and getting a test and asking the right questions has taught me so much more about my most important tool.”
Specsavers Audiology says 56 per cent of Australians aged 40 and over have not had a hearing check in the past three years. Specsavers Optometrists and Audiology Townsville Willows audiologist Henriette Lategan said all ages should have a routine check-up.
“It is always good to get your hearing checked especially if you are 40 years old and over or if you have a profession if you work in a lot of noise,” she said.
