SFL 2025 Anzac Day Match Preview: Undefeated Sorell takes on Lindisfarne

Sorell has made an impressive start to the SFL season and coach Simon Harris has given an insight to where his side has improved and where he wants them to continuing growing this year.

Moore ruled out of ANZAC Day clash

It is arguably the biggest day during the home and away fixture and playing on Anzac Day is not lost on the players of the SFL.

Second place Sorell will take on fifth placed Lindisfarne on Friday in the Anzac Day blockbuster at Pembroke Park.

Sorell played Brighton in the 2024 edition of the Anzac Day clash, going down by 41 points and will be looking to make sure it doesn’t go Lindisfarne’s way this season.

“The last two weeks have been good, we’ve got through with no injuries and we’ve sort of built the start of our season for these bigger games,” Sorell coach Simon Harris said.

“We rate Lindisfarne as a really good side, they’ve been in finals footy for a very long time, so we’re going to know it is going to be a tough game.

“It is a privilege to play on Anzac Day and it’s a real privilege for us to have a really good crack at a good sword.”

Sorell, who is one of three teams who remain undefeated, are coming off two massive wins against Hobart in round 1 and Claremont in round 2.

“I think people might say we haven’t played any good sides but I think credit to Hobart, they had 15 debutants round 1,” Harris said.

“And I think if anyone goes to sleep on Hobart, they will get you because I their contested footy is really good.

“We have played some great footy but we still really haven’t got out of third gear. So I am excited to see what we bring against a really quality outfit and sticking to our process.

“We stick to the process that we have worked on over the pre-season which is keeping yourselves in the game for long enough to be able to win games.

“Our good was very good last year but our poor was very poor and we are trying to fix that happy-medium where we are always in the contest and you give yourselves moments and take momentum and win games of footy.

“We have been able to do that very well for the first two games this season and we continue to own our moments I think it will give us the opportunity to win on Friday.”

Lindisfarne will be the side’s first big challenge this season with the 2024 runner-up looking to bounce back from the 17-point loss to Huonville Lions.
