The former general manager of Richmond AFL club has died in an accident on his macadamia farm in northern NSW.
Richard Doggett was killed in an accident on his property at Numulgi near Lismore.
The Tigers posted on social media: “Richmond is mourning the passing of 1980 premiership General Manager Richard Doggett.

“We send our deepest sympathy to Richard’s family and friends.”
Tragically Mr Doggett died just before the 40th anniversary of the 1980 Grand Final victory.
Mr Doggett spent two periods as the club’s general manager, from 1979-1980 and from 1986-1988. He was also treasurer from 1979-1980.
After a spell as executive at Conrad Jupiters Casino on the Gold Coast he moved back to Sydney and 13 years ago moved up to Numulgi.
He was the chairman of the Australian Macadamia Society and championed the industry as a lifestyle choice of treechangers.
“It’s certainly a lot cheaper to buy a macadamia farm than to get a house in Sydney at the moment, so come on up. We want to see you,” he told the ABC five years ago.
Absolutely shocked to hear Richard Doggett has died in a farming accident in NSW.

London-born, he was Richmond's 1980 Premiership General Manager, and again in 87/88.
It was only in January this year I interviewed him.

A NSW Police spokesman said: “Officers from Richmond Police District will prepare a report for the Coroner following the death of a 72-year-old man at a property in Bexhill on Friday (25 September 2020).
The man’s death is not being treated as suspicious.”
