Monster Truck Mayhem returns to Toowoomba Showgrounds with new extreme show

High-energy carnage will cover the Toowoomba Showgrounds on Saturday when the Extreme War on Wheels gets under way.

The mad machines from Monster Truck Mayhem are back in the Darling Downs and will take over the Toowoomba Showgrounds this weekend.

Starting from 4pm on Saturday, the two-hour show will feature four of the top Aussie monster trucks, including the reigning champion Outback Thunder.

Event organiser Clive Featherby said the show would debut a new truck, Confused, designed to roll nose-to-tail.

“We’ve also got Cassius Stevenson here and Tassie Devil, and he’s going to wheel stand in his truck halfway across the arena,” Mr Featherby said.

“We have all new acts in the new show for the monster trucks, there will be two demolition derbies, rollover cars, stunt cars and fireworks.

“If you can crash, bash or smash it, we’re going to bring the little kids’ dreams to life.”

The Monster Truck Mayhem crew are regulars at the Toowoomba Showground and have built a loyal following over the years.

Mr Featherby said the Garden City was often the last stop on the winter tour so the team can drive their machines hard, leaving everything on the field.

“The Toowoomba arena is a purpose built venue for us, everyone can see and there is plenty of room,” he said.

“You really can go ballistic here.”

In a departure from previous shows, the weekend’s event will start earlier to make life a little easier for parents.

“About 60 per cent of our audience is under 12 years old,” Mr Featherby said.

“I hate to tell you things, not being from Toowoomba, but your place is very close to being like the Antarctic.

“The kids don’t like to be out in the cold, so the show will finish on dark.”

Tickets to Extreme War on Wheels at the Toowoomba Showgrounds, July 19, are on sale now.
