Mackay State High School players and coaches were left searching for answers following heavy losses in Townsville.
Mackay lost to perennial contenders Ignatius Park 48-0 in the Cowboys Challenge and 66-0 in the Aaron Payne Cup.

The tries flowed early and on for Iggy Park in both matches, with Mackay High unable to keep up with the firepower of the opposition.
The two games followed heavy losses to St Patrick’s College in round one of the tournaments.
The Mackay High teams will have five weeks to prepare before the next round of the Aaron Payne Cup and Cowboys Challenge.

The sides will play Kirwan State High School in both competitions at Mackay junior rugby league fields.
Kirwan split the two games against St Patrick’s College on Tuesday, with an interception leading to a winning try in the Cowboys Challenge, and a late try and conversion sealing the loss in the Aaron Payne Cup.
