Emergency call-outs across the region: Rollovers, child bitten by snake, ghost fires

Emergency services were kept busy across Toowoomba and the Darling Downs region at the weekend, responding to dozens of incidents including ghost fires, crashes, and a child who was bitten by a snake at home.

Across the Darling Downs, first responders were kept busy responding to a range of incidents during the long weekend.

On Sunday morning, October 6, paramedics rushed to the scene of a single vehicle crash eastbound on the Warrego Highway at Gatton.

A Queensland Ambulance spokeswoman said about 5.17am a passenger in the vehicle was transported to Toowoomba Hospital in a stable condition.

On Saturday night, the Toowoomba Hospital received another car crash victim after a car crashed and rolled at Umbiram about 8.20pm, west of Toowoomba.

The QAS spokeswoman said one stable patient was transported to hospital after the rollover on the corner of Umbiram School Road and Wyreema Athol Road.

Earlier on Saturday, paramedics were called to Hatton Vale to treat a person who allegedly fell from a moving vehicle on Habban Road about 1.18pm.

The patient was transported to Ipswich hospital in a stable condition, she said.

The Queensland Police Service has been contacted for comment.

Two people were rushed to hospital after being bitten by a snake at the weekend.

The first snake bite incident occurred at Yamanto on Friday night at the private address, where a boy was rushed to hospital in a stable condition at 9.10pm.

The second occurred at a Lowood home on Saturday morning, and an adult was also taken to hospital for treatment.

On Friday night the QAS spokeswoman said they received reports of a fire in Dalby near the Warrego Highway about 6.18.pm, however when the crew arrived there was no fire or people at the scene.

In Toowoomba on Friday night just before midnight two cars crashed on the corner of West Street and Stenner Street at Darling Heights.

A woman with a suspected leg injury was transported to hospital in a stable condition.
